The Sky Whisperer

The Sky Whisperer captures something that is rarely the subject of visual work because it cannot be directly represented: the quality of attention. The figure's posture — head tilted back, gaze released, body stilled into a state of full receptivity — is not performing for the viewer but is entirely absorbed in something the viewer cannot access. The image raises a series of quiet questions without answering any of them: What is being listened to? Is it possible to listen to the sky, and if so, in what register? What does genuine receptivity look like as a physical state, and how does it differ from mere waiting? The portrait is of the listening itself, not the listener — a description of an act of attention rather than the person performing it.
