Surveillance, omniscience, and the unsettling beauty of vertical power — a study of the gaze from above and what it means to be organized into a view.
Eye in the Sky examines a specific and increasingly familiar experience of contemporary life: the sensation of being observed from an altitude that forecloses the possibility of meeting the observer's gaze. The image is composed from this elevated perspective — removed, comprehensive, detached — and what it produces is simultaneously beautiful and deeply unsettling. The landscape below is orderly, legible, exposed; every element arranged into a coherence it does not possess at ground level. The gaze from above does not simply observe — it organizes, simplifies, and flattens. The work does not take a position on surveillance as a political system so much as it renders its aesthetic with complete fidelity: the cold, geometric pleasure of total visibility.
