Echoes of the Misty Swamp

Echoes of the Misty Swamp is a study in sustained uncertainty. The mist obscures as much as it reveals; the water carries reflections that don't quite correspond to what's above the surface; the creatures at the perimeter of each composition are never fully resolved. The series draws simultaneously from natural history illustration and the visual logic of folklore, constructing scenes that feel like field observations from a landscape that doesn't exist but, in some important sense, should. The images operate through accumulation — the longer you stay with one, the less certain its contents become, the more the atmosphere itself becomes the subject.
